The Golden Boy Remembering Diego Maradona
Even in death, Diego Maradona was larger than life itself. The passing of no other footballer on earth, for example, would lead to calls for all clubs worldwide to spontaneously retire their No 10 jersey in tribute. Fleetwood Town 5-1 Plymouth Argyle One-sided fare on the Fylde coast

After a tortuous time-continuum in the international wilderness, meandering from crushing disappointment to serial ineptitude, it was perhaps fitting that Scotland should finally bring it to an end by qualifying for Euro 2020 a year late. We had after all got to the stage in our fatalism where we were ready to adopt Dad’s Army’s Private Fraser as an official mascot for the national team, his prophecies of impending doom embodying everything we had come to expect when treading on the road for another qualifying campaign.
