Photographs of lonely goalkeepers around Cornwall’s non-League clubs

Darren Luke has been taking pictures of Cornish grounds for eight years, focusing on matches which are not normally covered by national, or often local, press

20 October ~ “With most of the teams in the county so far down the pyramid that players and staff tend to outnumber supporters,” Darren Luke says. “It’s a level of the game that tends not to be documented by photographers, where the character of the rural grounds changes with the seasons.

“They’re also pictures that are an alternative to the chocolate box image of Cornwall offered by people like Caroline Quentin, a Cornwall that the Poldark fans don’t get to see.”

Below is a selection of Darren’s pictures of goalkeepers on their own, the full album of which can be found on his Flickr account here. His other photography, including general football pictures, are here.
