There is outrage at the news that Arsenal v Leicester and Leeds v Middlesbrough, both set for Saturday February 13, have been switched for TV to the Sunday and Monday respectively. Any statements released by the Leagues claiming that they try to give fans at least six weeks' notice should just end with: "But ultimately we'll do whatever Sky say."

Bodden150Badge of the week ~ Bodden Town FC, Cayman Islands
Bodden Town is known in the Cayman Islands for being very fond of a bit of drama. In the 18th century, whenever there was an event to be marked on Grand Cayman, two magnificent cannons were fired in the market square. After five years or so, following extensive damage to stalls, shops, houses and inhabitants, the cannons were moved to the clifftops high above the town and fired out to sea. At first the cannons were fired to mark public holidays, the Queen’s birthday, a lost ship or to bring in the New Year.

The islanders got to like firing the cannons so much that, by the late 19th century, they were also used to mark the Governor’s birthday, the death of a noted fishmonger, high tide and low tide, the first cuckoo of spring, the start of a linen party and to frighten the bejeezus out of anyone seen dropping litter.

Finally, neighbouring islands complained about the noise until it was agreed at the Great Island Summit of 1912 that the cannons would only be used for Big News, with the proviso thrown in that there could be a large tinkly bell sounded to announce marriages between attractive people. The Bodden Town crest also includes a castle and a lighthouse because these images came free with the two cannons package from the designer. Cameron Carter
