Cristiano Ronaldo has had a newly discovered galaxy named after him by the University of Lisbon. According to one of the scientists involved, the CR7 galaxy has "ultimately allowed us all to be here by fabricating heavy elements and changing the composition of the universe". Bet Lionel Messi couldn't do that.

An old aboriginal myth (are there any new myths actually? Apart from the wash’n’go myth – you cannot just wash and go, I did it once and within seconds I was locked out of my house, buck naked) tells of a two-headed hydra that haunted the region of Dandenong. It was said that one of the Hydra’s heads spoke poison unto mortal human, while the other one talked nice.
However, both heads liked eating people. In one tale, a poor lost shepherd chances upon the Hydra at a watering hole. The Hydra’s first head leans its gaping maw into the shepherd’s face: “You, mortal boy, I shall feed slow upon you and at my pleasure while you scream in pain and confusion.” The other head tells the boy: “To be honest we’re doing you a favour – there aren’t any sheep round here, not for miles, you really want to go into beef farming – academic now, sadly.” And then they both eat him.
The hydra, many believe, was the precursor to the good cop, bad cop routine used in law enforcement. Not to be confused with the bad cop, bad cop routine used within today’s Metropolitan Police. Cameron Carter
FIFA satirise themselves by accusing the Noel Prize Committee of “not embodying the spirit of fair play”.
Premature penalty celebration in Edinburgh. You’d think the young keeper would have seen this sort of thing before on YouTube.

“Last week’s Howl mentioned the BBC stressing that the teams in the Women’s World Cup were indeed women. Sportinglife.com go further in making a distinction between Women and Ladies.”
If Alex Song wants to be known for fancy footwork, he’ll need to do better than this.
