Badge of the week ~ Police Tero FC, Thailand

PoliceTero300

Police Tero is not the name of a place but that of a famed Thai law-enforcer. Police Tero dropped the word “Officer” from his title early in his professional career and when asked to reinstate it by management as corporate standard, gave them a doctor’s note and a bit of a stare. Following this, no one ever called him anything but Police Tero ever again.

Police Tero was a bit like Alex Higgins never wearing his bow tie. Indeed there were many things that Police Tero could stop with one of his stares: street brawls, student sarcasm, running in an art gallery and even, on one famous occasion, a stammering lunatic with a shotgun who forced entry to a private domicile demanding the solution to a two-week old crossword. Police Tero also had a gun in case his stare didn’t work and he shot dead 86 people in a 25-year career. So people were wary of the gun too.

Police Tero is commemorated in the club’s name and badge as he died heroically at the peak of his powers, attempting to stare down the 12.46 from Pattaya when he was running late for an assertiveness course. Cameron Carter
