24 January ~ Arsenal have beaten Chelsea in just two of their previous 14 league meetings. However, with the Gunners top of the league and their opponents today struggling, they will be expecting to improve on that record. Arsenal had an even worse league record against Chelsea throughout the 1960s, winning just two of 20 meetings. However, they begun to turn that around in 1971.

With Arsenal second and Chelsea third going into their match on April 3, 1971, 62,056 packed into Highbury to watch the two go head to head. Just a few days before Arsenal had reached the FA Cup final and they continued their good form, with two Ray Kennedy strikes enough to earn them a 2-0 win.

While Chelsea eventually slipped to sixth, Arsenal won seven of their remaining nine games to overhaul Leeds at the top of the table and clinched the title in their final match away to Tottenham. The clip includes the launch of a search to find Arsenal fans a song for the FA Cup final, where they beat Liverpool to complete the Double.
