THE HALF DECENT FOOTBALL MAGAZINE

4 August ~ The Stirling Albion Supporters Trust yesterday completed the acquisition of Stirling Albion Football Club from former chairman Peter McKenzie. McKenzie wrote off a £1.2 million loan due to him by the club and the final value of the deal, made up by the settlement of outstanding debts and a one-off cash payment to McKenzie, is in the region of £300,000. Club spokesman Paul Goodwin said: "Although the trust has been running the club for a month now, the conclusion of the legal formalities is fantastic. The aim from the day we launched our efforts to buy the club was to increase the role it [the club] plays within the Stirling community... We'd urge any business that has an idea about how the club can be of help to them to get in touch." In the last year the Buy Stirling Albion campaign has used a number of creative ways to generate widespread interest in the club as well as generating significant income.
