The excitement of the League Cup

28 January ~ Today's newspapers are dominated with coverage of last night's League Cup semi-final. But in WSC 179 (January 2002) two contributors debated whether it was time to "kill off" the second cup competition. Yes: "A competition so worthless that it keeps changi­ng its name (from Milk to Coca-Cola to Worthington Cup – the sponsor’s beverage is the only thing about it that has got stronger)."
