Event organised by the Unite union and will be held at Oakwell

icon striker14 January ~ An anti-racism community football tournament will take place in Barnsley this weekend, organised by the Unite union. Aimed at celebrating Barnsley as a city of sanctuary for asylum seekers and refugees, the five-a-side competition will take place at Oakwell and has been arranged in partnership with the PFA, Barnsley FC Community Trust and Show Racism The Red Card. The idea was inspired by a refugee from Sudan who, after arriving in Barnsley, set up a football team for fellow refugees to help bring them together. The event will take place on Saturday, January 16 from 1pm and more details are available here.
