icon transfwindow2 September ~ Yesterday was Transfer Deadline Day, with social media flooded by talk of done deals, negotiations and rumours from all over the world. Sky Sports, naturally, were in their element in hyping up the day and their coverage but the main concern always seems to be the money players are sold for, rather than their ability or how they will fit into a team. Glen Wilson wrote about the greed of the day for the Popular Stand fanzine, saying: “It matters no more where the money goes, just so long as it goes – in inflated sums – that can be totted up and gleefully touted in HD as if they serve some kind of self-endorsement for grown men who like to yell straight-down monitors into the nation’s front rooms about what is effectively glorified admin.” You can read Glen’s full article here.
