To be held at the Park Theatre in Finsbury Park

CunningLong15018 August ~ Born in Islington in 1956, Laurie Cunningham became the first black footballer to play for England at any level, when he was picked for the Under-21s in 1977, and two years later was the first Englishman to play for Real Madrid, where he won La Liga and Copa del Rey double in 1980. His time at West Brom coincided with one of their best periods, when they finished third in 1979.

Outside football Cunningham was a London soul boy with a love of dancing, bespoke suits and original vintage clothing. Writer and artist Dermot Kavanagh has curated an exhibition, Laurie Cunningham: Different class, about the player at the Park Theatre in Finsbury Park, which will run from September 21 to November 23.
