Southampton punching above their weight

icon brokenball22 April ~ The latest Premier League wage figures have revealed that, relatively, Southampton are the best-performing team in the top flight while QPR are the biggest underachievers. The Saints have a wage bill of £55.2 million, the 15th highest in the division, yet are currently seventh. QPR are paying out £75m, almost double what they earned last season in the Championship, for their relegation-threatened squad. Manchester United are spending the most on wages, £215.8m, with Manchester City (£205m) and Chelsea (£192.7m) second and third. Burnley have a wage bill of just £21.5m.
