1 March ~ Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea will meet at Wembley today in the League Cup final. The pair have met twice before in major cup finals, with Spurs having won both 2-1. The most recent was in the 2008 League Cup, but the first was the climax of the 1967 FA Cup. It was the first Cup final to be contested by two London teams. Spurs had finished third in the league, 12 points above ninth-place Chelsea, and their superiority showed. Goals from Jimmy Robertson and Frank Saul won the Cup, despite a late consolation from Chelsea’s Bobby Tambling.
