THE HALF DECENT FOOTBALL MAGAZINE

28 June ~ Colombia play Uruguay in the World Cup tonight for only the second time in the competition's history. In 1962 the two met in Arica, Chile, for the opening match of the group stages. A penalty by Francisco Zuluaga put the Colombians ahead in the first half but Uruguay came back with goals from Luis Cubilla, who moved to Barcelona from Peñarol in the same year, and José Sasía. Neither team managed to get out of the group, though, suffering at the hands of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia.
