25 June ~ The US face Germany tonight know that a draw will send both teams through to the second round. If they get there each will feel that have a chance of progressing to the quarter-finals, given their potential opponents. The two teams faced each other in a quarter-final in 2002, the US' best showing apart from reaching the semi-finals in the first ever World Cup in 1930, and a Michael Ballack goal was enough for Germany to advance. The game wasn't without controversy though, with Torsten Frings getting away with a handball on the line for Germany.
