icon rebrand2 February ~ Formula One is one of very few sports to challenge top-level football for crass, overblown spectacle. With the first round of testing before the new racing season complete, and everyone already analysing each car's strengths and weaknesses, it is worth reminding ourselves that a football-branded motorsport franchise was once launched. In 2008, for WSC 260, Al Needham huddled himself in a stand near the finish line at Donnington and considered the idea of cars covered with football club logos speeding along tracks around the world.
