THE HALF DECENT FOOTBALL MAGAZINE

2 November ~ Queens Park Rangers and Derby County meet today with both teams aiming for promotion from the Championship. Thirty-three years ago they played each other in the old Division Two in a match that marked the start of Terry Venables' four-year spell at Loftus Road. The draw at the Baseball Ground didn't help either team to get closer to the top three which back then meant automatic promotion. QPR finished sixth and Derby County eigth, and they did not return to the top flight until 1983 and 1987 respectively.
