Fans chanted about region not race

icon racism29 September ~ Last weekend the Italian FA punished Milan because some of their supporters had chanted racist abuse during their match against Napoli. It means San Siro's Curva Sud will be closed for one match, but the decision may have changed the dynamics of what is considered racism in countries that play within UEFA. Milan's fans were singing derogatory chants not based on skin colour but at Naples and Neopolitans. As Gabriele Marcotti examined for ESPN, songs about local stereotypes may now be banned.
