Asking for support from other clubs

18 July ~ Coventry City fans are appealing for supporters of other clubs to join them in a protest at the Football League offices in London today at 4pm. The event is being organised by Sky Blues fans angry at Football League chairman Greg Clarke for allowing their owners, Sisu, to move their club out of Coventry and groundshare with Northampton 35 miles away. The protest will deliver the words "Real Football, Real Fans – EMPTY WORDS!" to Clarke, pointing out that the League's markets itself on being the home of "proper" fans and football but seems to show very little care for the wellbeing of the clubs and supporters that make such a slogan viable. Michael Orton, the campaign co-ordinator, said: "At the moment it's about Coventry but who will be next? This is about football clubs being turned into franchises and that’s an issue that affects every supporter."
