icon groundbuy14 May ~ The independent supporters' trust of Oxford United, OxVox, have had their bid to list the Kassam Stadium as a community asset approved. As Supporters Direct explain, the ground is now protected under the 2011 Localism Act, meaning OxVox must be notified if the Kassam is to be sold and will be able to force a six-month period in which they can put their own bid together. OxVox chairman Mark Sennett said: "This means United supporters will now never wake up one morning to read in the paper that the stadium has been sold, with no recourse." Recently Liverpool and Manchester United groups applied for similar status for their grounds.
