15 March ~ Brighton and Crystal Palace meet this Sunday at the AMEX Stadium. Although the clubs are 45 miles apart they forged a competitive rivalry in the 1970s when they battled for promotions and twice replayed an FA Cup tie. In March 1989 they met at Selhurst Park with Crystal Palace chasing promotion to Division One. The referee awarded five penalties and despite missing three of them the Eagles won 2-1. Palace eventually finished third and were promoted.
