Harry Pearson voted 42nd greatest Teessider

Inspired by Alan Foggon article

wsc02516 January ~ Long-time WSC contributor and former Guardian columnist Harry Pearson has been voted the 42nd greatest Teessider of all time. The poll, on GazetteLive, ranked Captain James Cook first, Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson third and Brian Clough sixth. Harry is the author of The Far Corner, a book charting his tour of football grounds in the north-east that was runner up in the 1995 Sports Book of the Year awards. According to the Gazette story "When Saturday Comes claims to have published the article about former Boro striker Alan Foggon which inspired Pearson to pick up his pen". We don't just claim to – we did. Here is proof, from WSC 25, March 1989.

Does anyone know how to get hold of a copy of the Far Corner? I had one once but lent it to a girl with one eye's boyfriend and never saw either of them again.

I think I've got two copies. If I find them both, I'll PM you to check if you're still looking for one, but it may take a while!

I was voted number 29.

If I am not mistaken, Harry's first contribution was in WSC 30, the first part of a history on British football?
