Sweden's golden boys of the 1948 London Olympics
A professor, a fireman and a baron
When London hosted the Olympics this summer football was almost a sideshow. However, the competition has launched the careers of many top players in the past, including Ferenc Puskás and Lev Yashin. The last time London held the games, in 1948, three gifted Swedish attackers; Gunnar Gren, Gunnar Nordahl and Nils Liedholm, fired their country to gold before forming one of the most formidable front lines in world football. Simon Craft charts their journey for In Bed With Maradona, which includes a 1948 documentary called The Golden Brothers about Gunnar, Bertil and Knut Nordahl.
