Man Utd Supporters' Trust call for sponsor boycott

Action follows Glazer announcement

icon manutdThe Manchester United Supporters' Trust (MUST) has called for a worldwide boycott of the club's sponsors' products. The move is a reaction against the Glazer family's plans to take half the proceeds of United's upcoming initial public offering on the New York stock exchange. It had seemed that all the proceeds would go towards lowering of the club's £430 million debts, but a recent announcement has stated otherwise. A spokesperson for the Trust said: "The Glazer family sell the rights to our loyalty and devotion for the club to sponsors for many millions but then use that money to pay off their self imposed debt. It has to stop and we want the IPO shelved and a proper fan ownership model put in place – one share, one vote."

And this isn't the eighth season of a sponsor boycott because ...?

Maybe they'll show their disgust by not attending games...or maybe not.

A fair amount already have. That's why you can get a season ticket if you want to pay the Glazers stupid prices.

Looked at the list of sponsors, and it seems pretty easy for me to boycott them, since I don't use a single product or service from any of them.

Christ but MUST are an embarrassment. Sean has it here; if you want to call for a boycott call for a complete boycott. Boycotting Hublot watches and Turkish Air will have no effect.

Anyone ever noticed how Duncan Drasdo looks like a Glazer brother? It's dead weird.

It's not really clear who they are asking to take part in this boycott. I do hope they aren't being cheeky enough to suggest that people who aren't United fans should.

If they were prepared to call the one boycott which would actually mean something, I might be prepared to listen.

I will nobly boycott going to all Manchester United matches and spend my time laughing at them being asset-stripped until there's nothing left, couldn't happen to a nicer club

This is all very well but the Glazers won't care they could fill Old Trafford anyway with other fans who don't care about the club's soul. The boycott tactic makes sense and I for one will be adhering to it, but I have been for a number of years.
Unfortunately, it'll take a massive boycott to have any effect, the Green and Gold campaign was dropped like a hot potato at the first sign of silverware.
