Opened in 1923, the Stadio Artemio Franchi – Montepaschi Arena is home to AC Siena and is named after former Italian Football Federation and UEFA president Artemio Franchi. For once the sponsor's addition of Montepaschi Arena in 2007 is welcome, as it makes the name distinguishable from Fiorentina's Stadio Artemio Franchi. Siena's stadium has a capacity of just over 15,000 and in 2011 they revealed plans to move to a new 20,000 seater stadium to be built below ground level.
