THE HALF DECENT FOOTBALL MAGAZINE

Yarmourth600Wellesley Recreation Ground is home to Great Yarmouth Town, a team playing in the Eastern Counties League. The ground has a capacity of 4,000 and is famous for its 120-year-old grandstand, which is thought to be the oldest stand in football still in use. It was closed during the 1990s due to the presence of large amounts of inflammable timber and asbestos, but it was reopened in 2010 after renovation works. In 2002 it was added to the Grade 2 list of special architectural and historic interest buildings.
