The 69,250-capacity Olympic Stadium in Munich used to host both Bayern Munich and 1860 Munich, before the opening of the Allianz Arena in 2005. Designed by Günther Behnisch, it was considered revolutionary for its large-scale use of acrylic glass stabilised by steel cables. It was built for the 1972 Olympics but also hosted the finals of the 1974 World Cup, 1988 European Championship and 1979, 1993 and 1997 European Cups.
