19 April ~ Despite Chelsea's surprising victory over Barcelona last night, there is still a fair chance that all four clubs in this season's Champions League and Europa League finals will be Spanish. Athletic are famous for their cantera policy of fielding only homegrown players from the Basque region, but as documented by Tom Parfitt on the In Bed With Maradona website, the club has always had strong links to the English game. The club's formation, shirts, colours and style of play were all influenced by England, "la madre del fútbol".
