As pastimes go, philately – the study of stamps and postal history – is perhaps not an obvious companion for football. Then again, hundreds of players, managers and teams have appeared on stamps across the globe. The Football Philately blog charts many of their stories, from the stamp that commemorated Pelé's 1,000th goal to Zambia's first football-related stamp in 1980 (they were late starters in the trend, apparently).
