13 July ~ Arsène Wenger is in the news today, demanding that UEFA investigate Manchester City's new £400 million sponsorship deal for their rebranded Etihad Stadium. Wenger has accused City of bending the financial fair-play rules and Etihad do seem to have paid a lot. When WSC sent Helen Duff to an auction of memorabilia at Maine Road back in 2003, basins from the gents toilets in the Main Stand were selling at the very reasonable price of £45

Though the wake for Maine Road was held on the last day of the season, the will reading had to wait until high summer. On a scorching Sunday morning in July, Manchester City fans converged for one final time on the stadium that had served their team through 80 turbulent years – to bid for its fixtures and fittings.
