THE HALF DECENT FOOTBALL MAGAZINE

There are some things one's mind jolts to instantly on hearing the word "rebel". One is of course, Marlon Brando in The Wild One. If I recall the dialogue correctly: Young lady: "What are you rebelling against Johnny?" Marlon Brando: "What've you got?" Young lady: "Chlamydia." Marlon Brando: "I'm rebelling against chlamydia."

Or one thinks of Spartacus, Che Guevara or Brendan from Strictly Come Dancing because he's always disagreeing with Head Judge Len. What one does not think of in the first few moments is two lions doing the jive. It is true that the jive was a controversial new dance by teenagers when it first emerged, because up until the 1950s the only dancing acceptable in public was the quadrille or the Lambeth Walk, but Rebels FC were formed in 2009, at a time when the jive was only performed by low-ranking celebrities and members of youth theatre.

Still, if Rebels FC believe the jive to be the absolute apotheosis of social and political insurgence, then we must respect this belief and the state would do well perhaps to monitor all non-essential jiving in urban areas. Cameron Carter

"Kurt Nogan apparently referred to by 'some' as one half of the 'Climie Fisher of football' by virtue of the fact that his older brother Lee also played. Presumably in this context 'some' means the person who added this to Wikipedia."
