THE HALF DECENT FOOTBALL MAGAZINE

What are the expectations for the team?
We are hoping to progress from the group but know we need to play at the top of our game in all three matches. This is a new Sweden team, playing a more attacking football, and it feels like it could go either way. A lot will depend on which Zlatan Ibrahimovic turns up, the one who destroyed Croatia earlier this year or the one who sleepwalked through 45 minutes against England in November.

Is the coach popular?
Yes, it will be Erik Hamren's first major tournament and the qualifiers were largely a positive experience. He is endearingly honest and open, which is a welcome contrast to his predecessors. He will be severely tested against Ukraine, England and France though.

Have any players appeared in TV commercials or other advertising?
Ibrahimovic has run his own advertising campaign to publicise his book. Clothing firm Brothers had Sebastian Larsson and Ola Toivonen in their ad, which was shot in London.

Which players are good interviewees and who are worst?
Ibrahimovic fits both categories. When he is on fire, he is great. When he is sulking, he is terrible. He shouted "What the hell are you looking at?" at a female journalist during a live TV interview this season after she had asked a question he did not like. Otherwise, you have to say that Anders Svensson has got better and better - he can be eloquent, honest and thoughtful.

Do any players have unusual hobbies or business interests?
Ibrahimovic likes to go hunting and once invited the whole squad to taste his wild boar, which was a hugely successful evening. Johan Elmander owns a restaurant, spa and hotel complex near Gothenburg. His wife and a business partner takes charge of it on a day-to-day basis.

Will there be any rehearsed goal celebrations?
I would be very, very surprised.

What will the media coverage be like?
Every game will be live on either the public broadcaster SVT or the commercial station TV4. The former has the excellent Glenn Stromberg, who played for Benfica and Atalanta, as their main pundit. TV4 rely heavily on Pontus Kamark, who was recently voted Leicester City's best foreign import.

Will there be many fans travelling to the finals and will they have any chants/songs?
The official supporters' club, Camp Sweden, expect 10,000 fans to travel to Kiev, where all three of Sweden's group games are to be played. In total there could be as many as 20,000 Swedish fans. The song In med bollen i mal (Get the ball into the goal) by Markoolio is still a massive favourite.

What is the local view of the England team?
Swedish supporters love English football. It has been shown live on Swedish television since 1969 and everyone has a favourite English team - a lot of fans support that team more than their Swedish club. When it comes to the national team, however, people seem to turn their noses up. Partly because England always seem to think they will win every tournament they enter - despite not having beaten Sweden for more than 40 years until last year's friendly win - and partly because John Terry, Ashley Cole and the like are not the nicest bunch of players around.
