Matthew Brown was born in Leicester and had the misfortune of becoming a Leicester City fan despite being raised in the north east. He moved to London where he began writing about football fans and civil liberties, racism in football and football in the community. He contributed to the WSC books Power, Corruption and Pies and the Half Decent Football Book, and was an ‘additional writer’ on Brian Glanville’s Arsenal Stadium History.
