Mark 'Chip' Rowe played on the wing in his last year for Waterside Junior School, Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire (1978-9) and on either wing for a team of University of Bristol friends called the Bullshitters (1986-9), scoring five goals in 32 games. He broke his knee going for the ball with Roger Lytollis (author of The Jimmy Glass Story and a fellow WSC contributor) while playing for a Carlisle News & Star team losing to a Carlisle United supporters XI in May 1996.
