Sampdoria beat Genoa 3-1 in their derby to end their 7-game losing streak and extend Genoa's to six. Genoa are now bottom.

Inter are furious about a nailed-on stoppage time penalty not given in the 2-2 home draw with Cagliari. Torino are equally furious about an extremely dubious penalty which opened the scoring in Roma's 2-0 win in the Monday night match. Some things never change in Italy, and 'blame the referee, not the team' is one of them.

With all the top sides drawing, Fiorentina move joint third after a 4-1 win over Atalanta. Milan show signs of life by coming back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Napoli thanks to their 20-year-old striker El Sharaawy, who now leads the scoring charts with 10.

Pescara coach Giovanni Stroppa resigns after the 1-0 loss at Siena, claiming the dressing room is not following him any more. A rare event in Italian football, where coaches almost invariably wait for the chop, knowing that their club will have to continue paying them.

A shame you couldn't be bothered to acknowledge Grimsby for the good run of form put together to knock them off the top. Credit where it is due.
