Not to mention the ridiculous and coddling up to the club that the local council did, at a huge expense to Stoke residents whilst also grossly distorting the balance of power in Potteries football. Not a lot of people remember the "beanos" (as they were known) granted to the council for essentially brown-nosing and granting favours to the odious Coates.
