Yes, lovely piece. I remember in the 70s when kids at our school would occasionally make a trip to Wembley (not counting our annual school trip to the zoo and a schoolboys international, which didn't really count), they'd come back with souvenirs and the match programme, whether it was an England game or a final, and we'd all gather round and make envious noises.
But even aged 10 going to my first U15 international at Wembley, like the author I can remember the rush from the atmosphere that first time I walked up and into the arena - it almost knocked me backwards. Not surprising - up until then I'd only ever been to Sincil Bank, Blundell Park and The Old Showground.
