TOPIC: Poland are still struggling to live up to their past

With the election of the new President of the Polish FA just ten days away, on 26th October, there is an internet campaign to get supporters to give a "Spanish farewell" to Gregorz Lato and the PZPN Old Guard by waving white handkerchiefs in the 26th minute of tonight's match. After chaotic scenes at the previous home qualifier in Wroclaw where many ticket holding spectators did not get into the ground until nearly half time and the disappearance from sale of 20,000 tickets for tonight's game which have, allegedly, been given to PZPN officials, discontent among Polish fans is rife. Main hope for the reformers is Zbigniew Boniek but with so many cushy jobs at stake no-one is pinning their hopes too high.
