Us Ipswich fans gave up being disappointed with Wright many years ago. Left us far too early - just one season in the Premiership, and had barely made it to the England squad - but was badly advised by his oh-so-lovable agent, Jonathan Barnett. (Happy to be corrected on this, but am pretty sure he was Wright's agent at the time.)
Have heard from several sources that for the last few years Wright has been happy to warm benches and collect a handsome salary, having pocketed signing on (and off?) fees along the way, as well as Premiership salaries for many seasons. Lost his drive a long time ago.
And to think he was training with the England squad aged 17 at Euro96...
