They certainly did improve on that opening day record. Great piece and a great performance by the Baggies. I remember watching them on sky on opening day last season, where De Gea seemed to be giving Man U more problems than WBA for most of the game but Albion were never out of it, which speaks to the overall sense of stability James is talking about - different gaffer, still doing Liverpool.
Ironically, if he continues in this vein, Clarke's replacement of Hodgson will have all the "smooth transition" hallmarks once famously associated with, erm, the Anfield bootroom. But the Kop knows better than anyone that you have to have a manager from Ayrshire if you really want to get places :-)
