What makes you think either club should be used as a model for a mid to low table prem club?

The starkly contrasting approaches of Chelsea and Man Utd to management, and the similar results that the two organisations have achieved, suggests to me that managerial stability is not an essential ingredient for success in modern-day British football. It might be a contributory factor, possibly - but not a significant one.

Could it per chance have more to do with money?

As our lord Dario Gradi has been invoked - it's only fair to say that although when DG was resurrected into the manager's role, it became obvious that new blood was needed. Steve Davis was that new blood, and it's turned out OK so far.

I suppose what I see this as meaning is that longevity does not breed success of itself: it's innovation within that period of longevity that really works...
