So, what did you tell your teacher if you didn't talk about football?

I remember this one well, but not because I was at the game. I was ten, so a little younger than you, and I'd only started to follow Leicester that season after watching David Speedie nod in a winner in a 1-0 win against Forest on the telly. My enthusiasm for football was at its peak and it was all I could think of on a Saturday afternoon.

I was at a friend's house mucking about in the garden and ran in to ask his mum what the score was. She told me Wolves were 2-0 up and I refused to believe her. She got more than a bit fed up of me questioning her honesty and gave me a good telling off, at which I sauntered back into the garden ,chastened and depressed. It wasn't until I got home that I found out our new striker had saved the match for us. I always liked Iwan. Didn't he miss a sitter similar to the one at the end of this match when we drew 0-0 with Man City in the FA Cup 3rd Round at Filbert Street a couple of years later?
