It is a very short sighted view to suggest that Levy is suggesting that a fourth place finish is not good enough. It is more likely that when Redknapp was offered a contract before, he stalled while waiting for the England job to be offered. He then goes on to demand a contract as soon as he don't get it, having had such an awful run in, conceding a ten point lead.

That, sadly, is Redknapp all over. He always manages to find ways to shoot himself in the foot, even when his achievements have been of a more than decent standard.

"When you consider the mitigating factors, finishing in the top four was an impressive achievement"

The mitigating factors being having a squad that a really good manager would probably take to 2nd in the league given how poor other teams were this season?

I think 6 wins in the last 17 games, combined with openly touting himself for the England job and billing 47 hours worth of petrol to the club used whilst giving interviews to Sky Sports from the front seat of his car were the factors in 'Arry's dismissal.

Looking from the outside I wonder if Levy is concerned about Redknapp's love of the transfer window, in august last year they practically had to give Hutton and Jenas away to meet the 25 man squad, and the implications of FFP
