great article and follow up comments. channel 5 football will be missed for its dedication to the football rather than the hype and hyperbole.

FastballWarrior - the Faroes never snatched a last minute point in Torshavn. they were two up at half time and it was Scotland through Ferguson and Lambert (if memory serves) that managed to snatch the draw. oh the joys of the Berti Vogts era.........

Thanks for the feedback. You are quite correct that we did succumb to a 2-2 draw in Torshavn - but that was in September 2002 (and memorably broadcast on BBC1 Scotland, where Dougie Donnelly and Rob McLean gave Scotland a doing a full time).

The 1-1 game took place in June 1999. I still have it on tape, and it's a shocker...
