We haven't had a discussion yet, as far as I recall, about the thrilling subject of the stadia used at Euro 2008. An uninspired looking bunch, in the main, by the looks, though not helped by only two grounds being used in the knockout phases. I'd have the Innsbruck and Geneva grounds as my faves - having at least something of a distinctive appearance, though there's nothing to compare with Dortmund in 2006 or that funny Portuguese one carved into a cliff (Faro?).

Anyway, unwrap your cornbeef sarnies and share your ground thoughts here.

It isn't architecture as such, but at least one of the grounds gave an excellent view of the Alps. Not as good as the view from one of the French grounds (Lyon?), but pretty good all the same.

I believe some of the stadia hold up to 30,000 people

IMAGINE THAT

One of the few bad things about giving Switzerland a tournament is that the new Letzigrund is utterly dull:

It's boring enough in its own right, but given that it replaced the old Letzigrund (with its zig-zagging stands and thoroughly mental roof) it's all the more disappointing:

Do we have to have design statements every tournament?

It's the Braga stadium which has the cliff face

This is the FAro-Loule stadium which is fantastic and hosting Cardiff and Celtic this summer

Mind you, I prefer SC Farense's old stadium which was like a roofless Ninian Park on the Algarve and was actually in Faro
