It'll be one more than Gomis gets.

It's probably worth reminding me what game that goal was in, aiatl...

Claude Makelele seems to have the same anti-disciplinary forcefield around him as Barry Ferguson does in the SPL. A vicious stamp on the shin of Razvan Cocis and four or five other un-violent but cynically disruptive fouls of varying hues should have amounted to, cumulatively, a red card and at least two yellows. But he got away with everything.

Romania were disappointingly unambitious but looked very well-drilled in defence, especially the two centre-backs Goian and Tamas. I hope Gordon Strachan noticed them too.

The highlight of the game was the pair of Superduponts in the stands.

I watched parts of the second half in the O'Neill's on Euston Road. It was packed with French, who got quieter and more depressed as the game went on. Without reading the whole of this thread, I'll assume that the first half was as bad as the bits that I saw.

did anyone else see or hear Marcel Desailly sum up the match for the BBC?

Somewhere near the end of his couple of minutes analysis he reckoned that because of the poor french display "there will now be plenty of doops in the dressing room"....

What is a doop?

Is it a French vegetable?

If so I guess his statement is correct....

France are fairly screwed. They were utterly unable to change gear over 90 minutes. One shot on target. They have a great pool of players but a turnip managing them.

L'Equipe has been getting increasingly sombre of the team in its analysis as days pass.

Desailly probably meant 'dupe'

No, no, no, cannon.

It's all going to plan and France are on the verge of greatness; just ask linus.

Since you've asked ursus, I'm somewhat optimistic about France getting through GC given where Italy now stands, but less so as far as the second half of the month, in good part due to Domenech.

I'd like to see France take their chances and be more agressive vs Holland as there is a big premium to winning the group as opposed to just advancing because the 2nd place team will likely face Spain rather than Sweden. Huge difference.

I think that Domenech will just take the draw vs Holland and/or Italy and be just content with advancing. I don't like France's chances against Spain in the quarters.
