Ireland fall foul of a stomach bug

"We need to restrict their runs", hmm, is that the other team's runs or your own players'?

Better failing foul of a stomach bug than being shafted by spin...

Have boundaries always been worth 4 and "home runs" worth 6? Or has that varied over time? Is there any variability in the dimensions of the boundaries from ground to ground?

I was reading Len Hutton's biography a few weeks ago and it mentioned that before World War I a six was only scored if the ball was hit out of the ground. Five runs were awarded for a hit over the boundary without bouncing.

Everyone drawing a veil over England's abject performance against spin yesterday?

All the group winners will be in one pool in the Super 8s due to pre-tournament seeding. Good work, ICC.

I mentioned it. I was watching the cricket and the Manchester City - Evil match down the pub. The cricket was just jaw-droppingly bad and then Evil scored. A bad Sunday. In fact, after the Millers' rubbish performance at Underhill and the Stones going out of the FA Cup, it was a bad weekend all round...

The brilliance of hosting a tournament in Sri Lanka during the monsoon season continues to be demonstrated.

What are the odds on the final being a five-over thrash?

Modern cricket gets the outcomes it deserves sometimes.

Now we've got a tight one...

Super over.

Not sure how we ended up here, as Sri Lanka were cruising when I left the house.

And England being England, it appears.

0/1 chasing 180.

I wouldn't worry, England've set off backwards...

0-2 after 1 over.

Proper, spritely and pacey pitch this looks like though. I approve.

India may call up Bishan Bedi for the test series.

How does ESPN make money from Cricinfo in the US?

What a cracking match. Hales just ran out of steam, Morgan fantastic and some grear WI fielding.

Satchmo, adverts, same way they make money anywhere else.

Somehow I think that future generations may not believe us when we tell them that Johnson Charles got 84 and Alex Hales 65 in the same international.

It's Charles' highest score in any form of the game (including List A).

The Lanka got out of jail there, should have won comfortably.

Excellent efforts by Hales and Morgan for England, with 46 needed off three I thought they could do it.
