My grandma lived 20 minutes outside of Tampa, so I always liked the creamsicles. The color really matched the city and palm trees and warm weather well. The swashbuckling Errol Flynn captured the libertine tendencies of the area.
One of the scariest carloads of people I ever saw was this black camaro pulling out of a trailer park by grandma's house, and basically it was driven by shirtless pcp-smoking pirates with black hair coming out of every part of their heads with tans nearly the color of the camaro. Somehow the light orange swashbuckler captured them, Santo Trafficante's yacht parties, Jimmy Buffett, death metal and Kevin Sullivan's Army of Darkness at the same time...
...but in a fun way.
John McKay in his fishing hat was also outstanding.
I wish the Bucs were able to have competed better in the 80s. It was neat having the two Bays in one division, Green Bay - Tampa Bay. I really like the NFC South now, but I miss the days of seeing the creamsicles in Soldier Field in December.
However, it's nice to know that with their throwbacks they wore against the Saints, they can still come up with old school Yakety Sax-inspired defense with the jerseys.
