Aren't Utah and Cal designated rivals now?

It has something to do with the divisions but I'm not sure why the big rivalry game can't be at the end.

I don't think there's any designated rivalries now...all of the teams in the South play each other every year, and the LA schools trade off playing the Oregon and the Washington schools (UCLA hasn't played Oregon in the regular season last season or this one).

It was the earliest in the season that Cal and Stanford have played each other, this is what Yahoo had to say:

The Cal-Stanford game was moved to the middle of the season to accommodate the Pac-12 television schedule. Officials for both Cal and Stanford opposed having the game played at midseason, but officials from the other conference schools approved the schedule. Not since 1896 has Cal faced Stanford in a game placed in the middle of the season. Having the Pac-12 title game set for the first weekend of December limited the options. The Cal-Stanford game could have been played the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but the two schools did not want the holiday to conflict with the events leading up to the Big Game. The game could have been played the Saturday before Thanksgiving, but officials from other conference schools vetoed that because of a variety of scheduling issues. The Cal-Stanford game will be played late in the season again in most future seasons.

Rivals for the SEC teams these days are just every other SEC team. It's funny though, how fans of SEC teams will wish death upon other SEC teams when they're playing against theirs, but if that same hated team were to play in a big game against a non-SEC team, they would be 100% behind them.

The allegiance to the conference is strong. Is it like that in other conferences?

Everyone wants the teams they've beaten to win their other games in order to boost their computer ranking, but otherwise, I want our rivals to lose, so they lose prestige and are easier to recruit against.

Honey Badger and 3 other former LSU players arrested for smeauxking pot.

Other than an irrational dislike for UT, I root for big-12 teams in non-conference games. I don't worry about departees Colorado and Nebraska, but Texas a&m and Missouri can bite it.

ND 20 - OU 13. 5 minutes to go. I am a Notre Dame believer. Their QB is tough as nails and they have totally outcoached 4.5 million dollar Stoops. ND's defense has allowed Jones to throw for short passes, but nothing long-distance.

As I'm typing this, #5, the stud ND linebacker makes a great INT.

I'm very happy that Te'o didn't go to USC. They were considered the favorites to get him during recruiting, and it was a bit of a shock that he went to Notre Dame. UCLA was also recruiting him heavy, with the Hawaii and Mormon connection with Norm Chow.

Horrifying injury to South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore, who suffered a serious leg injury. He had his season ended early last year, and you have to wonder if he'll be able to come back with a second severe injury now. Even worse than seeing his tibia hang lifelessly as he was being flipped in the air and lying crooked after he landed was seeing his reaction after he took off his helmet. He wasn't crying out in pain, but seemed to be in shock, and I think it was an existential pain more than anything--a "oh my god, not again" reaction.

Lattimore's injury was indeed horrifying. You summed up his reaction well.

#2 Florida loses an ugly game v. Georgia. Oregon kicks shit out of useless Colorado, and KSU pounds Texas Tech into submission in Manhattan. ND, Bama, Oregon, and KSU all fighting for bcs championship game. Any one of the above could lose between now and January, but this would be a nice final four.

UCLA will be wearing alternate uniforms for this weekend's game against Arizona. They've dubbed them "L.A. Nights," which I think sounds like a Cinemax After Dark movie title:

The navy blue is a throwback to the color that UCLA wore in the early years of the program.

I can't decide whether those gloves are ugly, cool, or both.

The jersey is nice, but the helmet needs to be a few shades lighter to match the jersey. As it is, it looks almost black, which would be totally lame.

The gloves are good color-wise but I would have gone with a different design.

A touch reminiscent of this Adidas Originals banger:

Yes.

I have both.

Stick that in your pipe, EIM.

Wow. What a total cave-in by LSU. Kicked bama's ass the second half, misses a fg, then melts on a last-minute drive.

KSU hangs in and beats a tough OSU team. Klein misses last qtr with an arm injury.

ND kicks crap outta OU away last week, then struggles to beat 4-4 Pitt in 3OT at home.

Ducks and USC team up for close to 1400 yds and over 110 pts. Oregon superior.

Final four still intact.

Most points and yards given up by USC in their history.

UCLA whoops up on Arizona, 66-10. Bruins with a better record than the Trojans through this point in the season for the first time since 2001.

It was 35-3 UCLA when I made my post, but I resisted mentioning it for fear of a major UA comeback. No fear of that happening!

Those blue UCLA uniforms would have worked better with gold pants.

I think so too. The jerseys and helmets looked pretty good under the lights, I thought.

I turned off LSU-Bama at halftime, when Ellis U missed the FG to make it 7-6.

I would've never had guessed it would've turned into a game.

Darrell K. Royal has passed away. Big news here in Austin, of course.

RIP, Coach.
