I quite like Takk, but can't help wondering how they could vary their theme in other albums, and thus whether they might all sound rather similar. Of course, the tendency to use Hollipolla as musical wallpaper heightens such concerns, along with whether an English-language group would get away with such a sound, but presumably their other albums differ in emphases.

I saw them headline at Latitude a few years back. I'm fairly certain they played the same song for just under 2 hours.
It felt like about 2 years.
it is genuinely the worst gig I have ever been to in my whole life and I've seen Neds Atomic Dustbin.

I do like their untitled album ( )

It has a different feel from Takk, longer songs, generally of slower tempo and great contrasts, especially of volume. I want to say it feels 'darker' than Takk but not convinced that quite captures it.

The vocals are not in Icelandic, either. They just made up words instead.

I read about it somewhere. Here's The Indy's review, for example.

I lost interest in them around Takk as I realised they really do only have the one trick, which is a shame as I adore Von, AB (Not even going to attempt to write it, it's the dark blue one with an angel foetus on the cover) and ().

In fact, maybe give Von a try as it is quite different, there's still the long epic swooshy song on there but there's a great Cure-ish sounding thing and some nice experimental ambient stuff.

And yes, the language is made up, the singer calls it Hopelandic...

Well, there's another band I'll go out of my way to avoid.
Fucking Hopelandic indeed.

I know a girl who has a Sigur Ros neck tattoo.

As you were.

Does she endlessly whine on in an unintelligible, high-pitched voice?

urgh, I also knew someone who had that tattoo, good sign of people to avoid that.

She's actually a lovely person, a momentary lapse of reason with the neck tattoo, I guess.

I worked for the PA provider at a Sigur Ros gig a load of years ago.
I wanted to give their soundguy one of our 'LOUD DOESN'T ALWAYS EQUAL 'GOOD' t-shirts.*

*see also Mogwai.

Tattoos - a bit suspect possibly?

Exposing shallowness?

Sigur Ros are quite nice but I'm enjoying the wonderful Hildur Gudnadottir at little bit more at the moment

What a pompous, sneering wank-hammer that Theodore Dalrymple seems to be.

I quite enjoyed Takk & bought the next one.
I really liked the Ned's & all that.
Hobbes probably won't be in if I pop round for a pint.
